The German Ministry of Eduction and Research (BMBF) aims to attact young scientists to nanotechnologies with a world-wide contest. BMBF announced on Wednesday in Berlin that the project NanoFutur has been funded for 20 million euros.
Young researchers have the possibility to conduct independently their research in Nanotechnologies in a German research institute during 5 years with their own team. Themes of the projects cover the whole range of nanotechnologies.
The first 17 funded researchers have worked successfully since 2003. In the meantime 4 of them have been offered a faculty chair and over 50 % intend to apply their research results by creating their own company.
NanoFutur is part of the initiative for the future called "Nanotechnologies conquer the market" which belongs to the BMBF programme "Innovation Materials for Industry and Society".
