The MONA methodology

For the Mona roadmap we will consider a market-pull perspective, to go down up to the key technologies. So the first selection criteria will be the applications and the potential market volume. Then we will see what photonic products will be used and where nanotechnologies can be used to improve performances, add new functionalities and/or reduce costs (Mona workshops are planned).

However, for technologies such as nanophotonics which can be considered as "disruptive" technologies (in the sense that it is still difficult to imagine markets for functions and materials which have not yet an industrial reality), one can miss out interesting technologies. So, we suggest starting with a market-pull approach, and then to consider a technological approach during the workshops (see figure 2):
